Sales Tax Rates for Clothing & Footwear

As some of you may recall, New York State has made some changes to the Sales Tax rates on Clothing & Footwear. As of April 1, 2011, through March 31, 2012, clothing and footwear sold for less than $55 per item or pair will be exempt from the state’s 4% sales tax and the state-imposed 3/8% sales tax in the MCTD. Please be sure to call your contact person at Presti & Naegele if you need assistance with changing your rates in QuickBooks or Point of Sale!

More details on these rate changes can be found at http://www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/memos/sales/m10_16s.pdf and http://www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/publications/sales/pub718c.pdf
